Sheldon Cowen, MD, is a board certified ophthalmologist specializing in anterior segment surgery of the eyes and has performed thousands of procedures over the course of 19 years. After receiving his undergraduate degree with distinction and medical degree with honors at the University of Michigan, Dr. Cowen completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Oregon, Oregon Heath Sciences University. He began practicing ophthalmology in Sun Valley, Idaho, where he became chief of surgery at Moritz Community Hospital in 1986. Three years later, Dr. Cowen moved to Seattle where he established his private practice.
Dr. Cowen was the first to perform LASIK eye surgery at Swedish Hospital, and has done thousands of refractive procedures. Dr. Cowen remains at the forefront of the field and has authored articles published in the ophthalmic literature.
Dr. Cowen is board certified through the American Board of Ophthalmology, fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, member of the Washington Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, Washington State Medical Association, and the King County Medical Society.
